Tree Landscaping

So you think your landscape wouldn’t be a true landscape without trees? Well, would you like weeping trees, apple trees, evergreen trees, Maple trees, flowering trees, fruit bearing trees or large shrubs? The list can go on, so it is up to you to decide what kind of landscape atmosphere you want to portray and then decide what kind of plants will help you achieve that environment. But, as a word of caution, don’t overlook your own environment. After all, palm trees don’t grow in Canada, so keep in mind what is practical for you.

Weeping Trees
Weeping trees and truly a landscape favorite. They give a sense of mystique and romance. Weeping willows are a great addition to a yard, providing shade that you can sit under and read in.

Weeping Higan cherry trees (Prunus subhirtella 'Pendula') are another popular choice. These trees produce pink and white flowers when planted in full sun and well-drained soil. It's also smaller than a weeping willow tree, attaining a height of 20 to 30 feet and spreading out 15 to 25 feet.

The Snow Fountain trees also grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. Snow Fountains also grow slowly, with the branches cascading right down to the ground. Whatever weeping tree you choose, it will give your landscape a peaceful, serene look that is sure to relax anyone.

Flowering Trees
Flowering trees will add more of a decor feel to your landscape. Even evergreen trees, like pine trees, are a good choice for the winter season. Their cones give these evergreen plants a sense of ornamentation.

Heat-tolerant trees are a necessity for warm weather places. Crape myrtle trees are perfect in the Southern climate, as these trees bloom in the midst of the intense summer heat when not many other plants will bloom. Planted in the north, the crape myrtle tree may die back into the ground during winter, coming back in spring. Therefore, the crape myrtle tree may grow to 30 feet in the South while remaining 4 feet in the North. Either way, you still get to enjoy it's beautiful flower clusters!

Think About Fruit Trees
Many ornamental flowering trees, such as magnolias and dogwoods, are often the prized trees in a landscape design; however, a flowering tree doesn't just have to be 'ornamental' (for looks only) in order to beautify a landscape design. Fruit trees will also enhance your landscape design, and there are new disease-resistant varieities on the market that will make your fruit tree experiences effortless. Think of apple trees, whose blooms are as beautiful as any ornamental tree, but whose blossoms later develop into a delicious fruit known for its nutritional value. There are many beautiful varieties of apple trees, including semi-dwarf and dwarf varieties.
